Bharat Mahajan

Programme Director: Integrated Primary Mental Health & Addiction Services; Mr Gay NZ 2021/2022

Bharat’s background is in the Nursing and Health Management sector where he gained extensive experience in mental health nursing, rehabilitation, transformation strategy, human resources, and change management. Bharat won the title of Mr Gay New Zealand 2021 which is designed to find, build, and develop future leaders with the LGBTTQIA+ community. Bharat is the first Mr Gay New Zealand of Indian heritage, and the first with a background in the health sector.

Already recognised as a young leader in the health sector, Bharat was executive operations manager at The Supported Lifestyle Hauraki Trust in Thames, before moving on to become charge nurse manager – mental health and addiction services. Which made Bharat one of the youngest charge nurse managers in Aotearoa.

Bharat has a strong commitment to equity, social justice, and inclusion. His leadership approach is one that achieves improvement and change through authentic relationships based on integrity and trust.

Robett Hollis

Global Kiwi & Multi-Exit Entrepreneur

Robett Hollis is a passionately driven Maori Entrepreneur and Ex-Professional Snowboarder who was ranked No. 1 in New Zealand and received a Silver Medal at the Snowboard World Championships in the USA. Robett is now heavily involved in the media and technology industry and advises companies and execs both here and in Silicon Valley.

His latest venture innovateHQ, acquired both the New Zealand Innovation Council & the New Zealand Innovation Awards from KPMG and launched a 50 million dollar ‘Open For Growth’ initiative to help more kiwis win in business. As the youngest Board Member of the New Zealand Technology Industry Association, Board Member of Figure New Zealand, Executive Council Member of NZ Tech Marketers, Founder of the New Zealand Entrepreneurs Festival and Judge at the New Zealand Hi-Tech Awards Robett is extremely driven to see other New Zealanders win.

Dr Michelle Dickinson

Dr Michelle Dickinson (MNZM) is a Nanotechnologist and Materials Engineer. She has spent the last two decades contributing to cutting-edge technologies, researching solutions for medical and technology applications for clients who range from small start-ups to large corporates. Having set up and run New Zealand’s only nanomechanical testing laboratory that specialises in making and breaking tiny things (nano and micro), Michelle spends her time helping companies with board advisory around science and technology commercialisation including technical consulting for investors and VC’s looking for ROI advice for high-tech start-ups. Her experience spans academia, government labs and large-scale R&D departments. 

Michelle’s success comes from her hard work and lots of lucky opportunities, allowing her to break the poverty cycle she grew up in through education. This experience led her to Co-Found Nanogirl Labs, a socially conscious business designed to create beautiful and engaging content to help everyone build confidence around STEM. Nanogirl Labs is both an in-person and a digital platform that highlights positive, diverse role models with fun and engaging storylines and kinaesthetic based learning helping everyone to see that they can be a creator not just a consumer. Nanogirl Labs’s goal is to help people have a meaningful relationship with technology no matter their educational background or socioeconomic status. Their projects include the bestselling book The Kitchen Science Cookbook and TV show, a digital STEM platform and STEM education in schools in the pacific islands.

Brianna Fruean

Climate Change Activist

Brianna Fruean is a Climate Change Activist, who has been leading grassroots community projects pushing for climate justice since learning about the effects of climate change and noticing the subtle changes to her island of Samoa as a child.

At age eleven, she became a founding member of the Samoan chapter of the climate organisation 350.org, and the youngest 350.org country coordinator. At sixteen she became the youngest winner of the prestigious Commonwealth Youth Award for her environmental activism. At seventeen, Brianna was chosen by the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environmental Programme as their first ever youth ambassador in recognition of her efforts to include young people in the environmental conservation space.

Today Brianna is a proud Climate Warrior residing in New Zealand, working to bring small island representation and young Pacific voices to the forefront of global climate conversations. She was most recently recognised for her powerful activism when she was awarded the 2022 Global Citizen Prize: Citizen Award Samoa earlier this year.
